During the first 16 years of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline operation Turkey expects to receive up to $200 million direct revenues along with the indirect ones, the official site of the Turkish Botas company, engaged in the BTC construction on it’s country’s territory says.
According to Trend, the report also says, starting with the 17-th year up to the 40-th of the project implementation Turkey may receive from $200 million up to $300 million as transit tariffs and other various service payments depending on the volumes of the oil pumped.
The Botas report notes Turkey will assume shortly the key role in transporting of 200 billion barrels oil and 18 trillion cubic meters gas from the Caspian region to the world markets through its territory.
By achieving the BTC maximal throughput capacity of 50 million tons a year, Turkey plans to buy from 15 to 20 million tons of oil a year for its own needs.
The first oil tanker from the Turkish port of Ceyhan is expected to ship in late 2005. To date the Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC) pumped over 300,000 tons of the Azeri Light oil into the pipeline.
