The Ministry of Transport achieved an initial agreement with several international financial organizations on funding reconstruction of the Baku-Georgia highway at length of 503 kilometers.

According to APA, the highway divided into parts will be funded by the Kuwaiti Fund, Abu-Dabi Fund (circular part of the road), OPEC Fund, Islamic Development Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Saudi Development Fund, Asian Development Bank and Eximbank of Czech Republic.

The Alat-Gazimammad (45.6 kilometers) and Ganja-Shamkir (21 kilometers) parts of the highway are currently under exploitation and reconstruction works are implemented in another 206 kilometer part of the road. In general, it is intended to completely put this highway in operation till 2009.
