“I am against all political calls concerning the Eurovision Song Contest. This is completely music and culture contest. It is the undeniable fact that Azerbaijan drew much attention with hosting the Eurovision contest. Participation of 41 countries in the Eurovision contest in Azerbaijan confirms that these calls resulted unsuccessfully. The support of the Eurovision contest in Azerbaijan is much more”, said the Executive Supervisor of Eurovision Song Contest Jon Ola Sand asked by APA about his opinion on some organizations’ calls to boycott Eurovision-2012 contest hosted by Azerbaijan.

The executive supervisor said that actually some organizations called to boycott the contest, but then they changed their opinions because of unsuccessful results. Jon Ola Sand added that small organizations called for boycott. The executive supervisor commented on punishment of Armenia by the European Broadcasting Union because of its refusal to participate in the contest and noted that everybody knows the rules of the contest and these rules concern all countries: “Every country, including Armenia must observe these rules.” Jon Ola Sand also underlined the high-level security of the contest: “The security of Baku Crystal Hall and around is perfectly ensured and everyone can safely participate in this project.”

The executive supervisor spoke about the Eurovision-2012preparation in Azerbaijan and noted that he has been regularly visiting Baku since June and satisfied from the preparation process: “The organizers have several tasks and everything was carried out on time up to now. The scene is very different in Baku. First the shape and view of the scene will be grandiose. “Green Room” will be completely different. To use 3D effects on this stage is a very good idea and it increases the interest much more.”
