Israel's representatives to "Eurovision 2012", singers of Izabo rock band, who will perform with the song "Time" in the first semifinal, gave an exclusive interview to Trend.
It turned out during interview that the leader of the rock band Ran Shem-Tov considers himself half-Azeri as his grandfather is from Baku.
Shem-Tov said it's a double pleasure for him to arrive in Baku. "I see nice people here, I see food that I know from my home, I remember this food, I know this food," Shem-Tov told.
He said his father spoke him about Azerbaijan and even told some words in Azerbaijani. Answering the question on similarities between Israeli and Azerbaijani peoples, Shem-Tov said both peoples are really smiling, have a good mood.
According to the leader of Izabo, it is an honor for him to perform on the historical land of his ancestors, and to represent his country in such a prestigious music contest.
Shem-Tov believes there will be a serious competition for victory here in the contest. He said yet he has not a favorite singer in the contest as he has not listened to all singers, but he believes there is a good staff in the contest.
Israeli broadcaster IBA selected the group Izabo to represent them in the 2012 edition of Europe's Favourite TV Show. The alternative band will perform the Ran Shem-Tov and Shiri Hadar song Time in Baku.
Izabo are best described as a brilliant, action packed combination of Psychadelic Rock, Disco, Punk flavored with Arabic spices. They secured a spot as one of Israel's most successful alternative pop bands with the 2003 release of their debut album The Fun Makers.
