Voting for the second round of presidential elections has commenced in Moldova, Azernews reports. In this round, current President Maia Sandu, representing the Action and Solidarity Party, is competing against Alexander Stojanoglou, the candidate from the Socialist Republic of Moldova. In the first round of elections held on October 20, Maia Sandu received 656,852 votes, securing 42.49% of the total, while Alexander Stojanoglou garnered 401,215 votes, translating to 25.95%. According to electoral law, a candidate must receive more than 50% of the votes to be declared the winner in the first round. A total of 11 candidates contested for the presidency in the initial round. Voting will conclude at 21:00 local time.
