Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar attended the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations (UN) Framework Convention on Climate Change, hosted by Azerbaijan and held in Baku. Emphasizing Turkey's key role in the net zero emission target, Bayraktar said, ''We believe that we will contribute to the net zero emission target by commissioning our 20,000 megawatts nuclear-installed power by 2050.''

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar stated that Turkey's installed nuclear energy capacity reaching 20 thousand megawatts by 2050 will make a significant contribution to the net zero emission target.

Bayraktar, in a post on his X social media account, noted that nuclear energy plays a key role in the world's ability to reach net zero emissions in 2050 and limit the global temperature increase to 1.5 degrees.

Bayraktar, who recalled that 25 countries, led by the US, signed the "Declaration on Triple Nuclear Energy" at the COP28 held in Dubai last year, said, "As Turkey, we also joined the countries that signed this declaration at the COP29 continuing in Baku. The total number of countries that approved the declaration has increased to 31. We believe that we will contribute to the net zero emission target by commissioning our 20 thousand megawatts nuclear-installed power by 2050."
