Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan received Saturday Mevlut Cavusoglu, the recently elected chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), in Istanbul.
Meeting with Cavusoglu at his office at Dolmabahce Palace, Erdogan said he was proud that a Turkish chairman was elected as the chairman of the assembly after 61 years.
"I believe, as a young and dynamic chairman, Mr. Cavusoglu will carry out quite successful activities during this new period in Europe," Erdogan said.
Cavusoglu said in his part that the foreign policy followed by Turkey under the guidance of Erdogan made the country not only an unquestionable leader in its region, but also one of the most prestigious and effective states in international platforms.
"As PACE, we will also support Turkey in its reform process and for its new civilian constitution from now on," Cavusoglu said.
The rest of the meeting was closed to press.
