Iran's official: Russian citizens were arrested during rallies in Tehran.
Five foreigners were arrested during rallies on the 31st anniversary of the Islamic revolution held in Tehran Feb.11, Tehran Prosecutor Abbas Jafari Dovlatabadi said.
Two of the arrested are Russian citizens and one - France, Japan and Afghanistan, he added. Three foreign journalists - citizens of France, Japan, and one citizen of Russia have been released within a few hours.
The relevant agency filed a criminal case on other Russian citizen arrested due to his illegal entry into Iran. Currently, his case is being considered in the Revolutionary Court, Dovletabadi said. He also said that a criminal case was filed towards an arrested citizen of Afghanistan. "An Afghani citizen, was arrested due to his attempt to organize riots in Tehran's Sadigiya square during rallies on occasion of the 31-st anniversary of the Islamic revolution. A criminal case was filed towards him," Dovletabadi said.
The festivities are held in Iran every year from Bahman, marking the anniversary of the 1978 Islamic Revolution. The Fajr decade marked Feb. 1-12, 2010. Iran held rallies on the 31st anniversary of victory of the Islamic revolution in the country.
