18 February 2010 [16:16] - Today.Az
Turkey and Italy will hold an intergovernmental summit in spring, sources at the Italian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

Sources said that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi would co-chair the meeting to take place in the Italian capital of Rome in spring.

The summit will most probably be held in April or May. Earlier, it was planned to take place in March.

The first intergovernmental summit between Turkey and Italy took place in Turkey's western province of Izmir in 2008. The two countries decided to hold the summit every year.

The second summit was to be held in Rome in December 2009. However, it was delayed due to an attack on Berlusconi at a political rally in Milan on December 13, 2009.
