Azerbaijani interior bodies operate in emergency mode in connection with the Eurovision 2012 song contest.
All necessary measures are being taken to protect public order with the help of state bodies, Head of the Public Security Department under the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry, Police Major-General Javanshir Mammadov said in an exclusive interview with Trend today.
He added that more policemen operate in crowded areas, including recreation zones.
The preventive measures are being taken to ensure public order, to prevent crimes on public transport and mass recreation places. He stressed that Baku Crystal Hall, the equipment and facilities have been protected since April 2.
The traffic will be limited in the venue of the song contest, the surrounding area and routes of visitors. The viewers will be transported by special buses from the railway station, Azadliq Square, the Museum Center, Azneft circle, Dalga Plaza hotel to Baku Crystal Hall, where the contest will be held.
He stressed that the spectators, not using special buses, will be able to walk in the direction of the Baku Crystal Hall through the pedestrian lanes, starting from the Plaza Dalga hotel.
The vehicles belonging to physical and legal entities will be able to move only to the special bus stops.
The individuals willing to attend the contest are recommended to come for three hours in advance to avoid the crowds and to easily pass to the State Flag Square, Mammadov said.
He stressed that the citizens will enter Baku Crystal Hall after passing checkpoints.
Besides the tickets, Azerbaijani citizens will have to show the identification card, while the guests of the country - the civilian passport by entering the hall.
"There will be 45 check-points at the entrance to Baku Crystal Hall," he added. "Each person will be checked with the metal detector. The tickets and identification cards will be checked. The individuals, without a document confirming identity, will not be permitted to the hall."
He also called the list of forbidden items, including the flags with a metal flagpole, piercing and cutting items, posters, large bags, alcohol, drinks in glass containers, beverage in a sealed plastic container, radioactive substances, explosives, fireworks and flammable substances, magnets, lasers, aerosol with the volume exceeding 100 milliliters, and others.
He also stressed that the necessary measures are underway to fully protect the venue of the contest.
