On May 24, in the State Committee on Problems of Family, Women and Children (SCPFWC) took place a meeting of representatives of the state structures and the non-governmental organizations with Noeleen Heyzer, Executive Director of the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM).

According to AzerTAg, Chairperson of the Committee Hijran Huseynova has emphasized value of the regional project "Women for prevention of conflicts and peacemaking on Southern Caucasus", carried out in the frame of cooperation with UNIFEM 'Coalition 1325'. She has recalled the MoU on "Support of the rights of women and gender equality within the legislation and policy", signed last year with UNIFEM and told about carrying out now at local and national levels of teamwork on maintenance of gender equality.

Noeleen Heyzer has emphasized, that UNIFEM pays special attention to improvement of cooperation in the field of expansion of gender equality in Azerbaijan, as well as in many countries of the world, has discussed questions of the further cooperation within the program of Fund stipulated for the CIS countries "Women and poverty reduction (2007-2009)".

The deputy minister of education Irada Huseynova, the vice-president of Steering Committee of the Council of Europe on equality between women and men Mominet Omarova, members of structure 'Coalition 1325' Durdana Mammadova, Tamam Jafarova and others spoke about the work done in the field of maintenance of gender equality in Azerbaijan.

Director of regional programs of UNIFEM on CIS Damira Sartbaeva took part at the action.
