Azerbaijan's Ministry of Taxes held an inspection held in the Atlantis LLC of from July 8, 2003 till January 1, 2006 and found out that tax in the amount of AZN 277.8 thousand was embezzled.

The Ministry of Taxes launched a criminal case under article 213.4 of the Criminal Code.

APA reports quoting the Ministry's public affaires department that the investigation found out serious irregularities in the documents of the Atlantis LLC.

It turned out that on October 6, 2002, Gambarova Dana Vladimirovna, who is not living in Azerbaijan, was appointed director of the company founded by Asgarova Lale. In addition, Asgharova established about 20 different establishments by the names of Poruz Abbasov, who died in a car accident in 1991, Afgan Alishov, who has been in prison since 2002 and Fuad Hasanov, who has lost his passport in 2004. These establishments were registered by justice and taxes offices by fake seal of the notary’s office # 17. These companies opened bank accounts operating money circulation in the amount of billions of manats (before denomination) in 2004-2005.

The investigation also found out former chief of the declarations department #2 of Baku Taxes Department Rovshan Bayramov was involved in illegal entrepreneurship activity. He conducted illegal banking operations. In addition, Bayramov embezzled 14.1 billion manats (before denomination) from the state budget in the period between October 1, 2003 till June 1,2005. He also forged the official documents of the 'Turan-A', 'Global-A', 'Viktoriya-A', 'Merkuri-S', 'Yuksel', 'Kontinental-A' and 'Atlantis' firms giving legal right to the VAT substitution in the amount of 14.1 billion manats (before denomination).

The former department chief was arrested for two-month period facing charges under articles 192.2.1, 213.2.1, 213.2.2, 320.1 and 320.2 of the Criminal Code on by the decision of the Khatayi district court on 28 June, 2006.
