Azerbaijani Youth and Sports Minister Azad Rahimov has been on an official visit to Morocco from Feb.28 to March 3. Rahimov was accompanied by the ministry’s Foreign Relations Department head I. Madatov and Youth Affairs Department head F.Hajiyev during the visit, the Azerbaijani embassy in Rabat said.

Rahimov arrived in the Casablanca international Airport on Feb.28, where his Moroccan counterpart Moncef Belkhayat and Azerbaijani Ambassador to Morocco Sabir Agabeyov met him.

Rahimov held meetings with Belkhayat in Rabat on March 1. The Moroccan minister said at the meeting that his country is interested in developing cooperation with Azerbaijan in the youth and sports sphere.

Rahimov noted the importance of holding joint competitions, trainings and courses, exchange of experience among athletes and coaches, as well as the organization of mutual visits of delegations of both countries’ young people.

He also touched upon the Nagorno Karabakh problem and said that the existing between the two countries mutual assistance during voting in international organizations is an example of the historical friendly relations of two peoples and governments.

Later a protocol was signed on cooperation between the Azerbaijani Youth and Sports Ministry and Moroccan Youth and Sports Ministry.

Rahimov met with the ISESCO Director General Abdulaziz Altwaijri in the residence of the organization in Rabat on the same day. The Minister also got acquainted with the Football Academy and Golf Complex in Rabat, the sports facilities in Tangier.

Rahimov attended an event dedicated to the issues of children, which was organized by the Moroccan Youth and Sports Ministry jointly with the UNICEF on March.

Azerbaijani Minister left Casablanca for the homeland on March 3.
