California hosted a presentation of the documentary film "Genocide: Guba" prepared by the Eurasian Institute of International Studies with financial support of the Council of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) under the Azerbaijani President.

Film was written and directed by Etibar Mammadov, editor - Kamala Pashayeva, scientific consultant - doctor of historical sciences, Professor Musa Gasimli. Chief Consultant of the documentary film "Genocide" is MP Ganira Pashayeva.

The film tells the story of the fate of people who lost their relatives and friends as a result of genocide committed March 31, 1918 in Guba by Armenian dashnaks, and who were living witnesses of those terrible events. During the massacre of civilians many Azerbaijanis and Mountain Jews were brutally killed.

The presentation of the film, organized the Azerbaijani-American Council (AAC) and the Eurasian Institute of International Studies, was attended by representatives of the Turkish and Azerbaijani Diaspora, Azerbaijan's Consul General in Los Angeles Elin Suleymanov and Vice-Consul of the Republic of Turkey in Los Angeles Arif Celik.

In his opening speech, Director General of Azerbaijani-American Council (AAC), Dr. Javid Huseynov presented a brief historical essay of the tragic events reflected in the film. In particular, he stressed that the massacre of the Azerbaijani population committed by the Dashnak groups on the head of the Bolshevik Stepan Shaumian's instruction aimed at intimidating to annihilate Azerbaijanis as a political and social factor in Baku province. According to Serzh Sargsyan's confession, the same tactic was used in Khojaly in 1992.

After watching the film, Azerbaijan's Consul General Elin Suleymanov addressed at the event. He stressed that Azerbaijan is a historically tolerant society, which rejects the ethnocentric ideologies advocated by organizations such as the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF). Guba region, where Mountain Jews live together with Azerbaijanis for many centuries, is one of the best examples of tolerance and mutual understanding in the Azerbaijani society.

Suleymanov also expressed his regret that radical and inhumane ideas propagated by Armenian Dashnaktutyun still resonated in the Armenian society and unfortunately, among some U.S. lawmakers, often making statements about human rights.

Turkish-U.S Associations Assembly elected president Ergun Kirlikovali spoke at the presentation. In his speech, he praised the work done by the producers of the documentary film and said that the film covers one of the many crimes of the Armenian Dashnaks in the Caucasus and Anatolia during the First World War. Kirlikovali also noted that this film should be broadcasted in the U.S academic and social circles to reveal the historical truth about the crimes and false-propaganda of Armenian radicals.

Editor of the film "Genocide: Guba", director of the Eurasian Institute of International Studies Kamala Pashayeva also spoke at the event. She spoke about the goals, preparation and shooting of the movie during four months. She stressed that the Armenian propaganda suppresses atrocities committed by Dashnak radicals to create Great Armenia in Anatolia and the Caucasus using various false claims. The purpose of this film is to identify and present these facts on the basis of eyewitness' accounts for the world community to have an opportunity to hear the views of the Azerbaijani people and give an impartial assessment of the historical events of that period.

Pashayeva also expressed gratitude to the NGOs State Support Council under the Azerbaijani President for financial support while preparing of the film, the Azerbaijani Academy of Sciences and professor Musa Gasimli, scientific support, Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy, chief consultant of the film, MP Ganira Pashayeva, as well as Azerbaijan-U.S Council for organizing of the presentation in the United States.

She also noted that the Eurasian Institute for International Studies has prepared a film "Genocide: Baku". This film reflects the mass extermination of the Azerbaijanis by Armenian Dashnaks and Bolsheviks in Baku in 1918. Films from the same series will be shot about crimes of Dashnaks in other regions of Azerbaijan.
