Azerbaijani wrestlers join Istanbul tournament

Today Istanbul launches 30th Greco-Roman wrestling tournament on the Memorial of Vehbi Emre. The event, which is part of the series of 'Golden Grand Prix' tournaments, involves wrestlers from 16 countries. Azerbaijan is represented with 14 fighters: Eldaniz Azizli, Elchin Aliyev (both 55kg), Kamran Mammadov, Orkhan Pashayev, Sakit Jalilov (all 60kg), Hasan Aliyev, Vitaliy Rahimov, Rasul Chunayev (all 66kg), Niyamaddin Ibrahimov, Samuray Mustafayev, Elvin Mursaliyev (all 74kg), Rafig Huseynov (84kg), Shalva Gadabadze (96kg) and Maxim Prokhorov (120kg).

Managers of the squad are head coach of the national team Salih Bora, trainers Shaban Donat and Mutallib Erlikaya. Antigam Aliyev is among the referees.

Along with Azerbaijan, the tournament involves wrestlers of Turkey, Sweden, Georgia, Italy, Korea, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Japan, Russia, Iran, Ukraine, Greece, Bulgaria and the Comoros.

Today will ran bouts in 55kg, 66kg, 84kg and 120kg weight categories and on 29 January - 60kg, 74kg and 96kg.
