Bird flu officially found in Georgia

Georgia's leading veterinary official said Monday that bird flu had been confirmed in the country's Black Sea autonomy of Adzharia.

Head of an agriculture ministry's veterinary department Jambul Maglakelidze said: "The virus has been confirmed." He said the H5 strain of the virus had been found by scientists in London in the body of a swan that died in late February and laboratory tests were on going, RIA Novosti informs.
