On November 3, the Azerbaijani delegation attending the 41st International Book Fair in Istanbul visited the Heydar Aliyev monument in Heydar Aliyev Park, located in the Sariyer district, Azernews reports.
The participants laid flowers at the monument and paid tribute to his memory. Attendees included Farid Jafarov, Deputy Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan; Gunay Efendiyeva, Deputy Chairman of the Culture Committee of the Milli Majlis; People's Writer Elchin Efendiyev; Fakhri Hajiyev, Head of the Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation; staff from the Azerbaijan Culture Center at the embassy in Turkey; and various writers and publishers.
The Heydar Aliyev monument in Sariyer was erected in 2006 and officially opened in the presence of President Ilham Aliyev.
This year, Azerbaijan is participating as an honored guest in the exhibition in Istanbul, themed "Childhood is a Celebration." The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan organized a large stand representing the country at the event.
