First Lady named Turkic world's "Envoy of Love and Friendship"

Azerbaijan's First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva, has been awarded the "Envoy of Love and Friendship" award in the Turkic World.

The award was established by Turkey's Channel 7 TV channel and the First Business magazine, AssA-Irada informs.

The award ceremony was held on Wednesday in Istanbul, broadcast on Channel 7 and attended by some 300 renowned businesspeople, politicians, statesmen, men of art and culture.

Also awarded were Turkey's former president Suleyman Demirel, the country's minister of environment and forestry Osman Pepe and others.

The award was conferred to the Azerbaijani consul-general in Istanbul Ibrahim Nabioghlu.

The First Lady was earlier named Person of the Year by the Chingiz Mustafayev Foundation and the ANS group of companies for her endeavors to preserve national cultural heritage, to promote Azerbaijan's international standing, to have organized the first world championship in rhythmic gymnastics in Azerbaijan, and to develop the country's educational system.
