SOCAR President meets Halliburton officials

President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Rovnaq Abdullayev met June 13 with David Lesar, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Halliburton Energy Services.

Rovnaq Abdullayev said the visit of Mr. Lesar coincided with a historical moment, start of operation of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan main oil export, and in this context, highly appreciated Halliburton's contribution to success of the project.

Mr. Lesar congratulated the management of SOCAR on successful completion of the BTC project, saying that for Halliburton doing business in Azerbaijan is the matter of strategic importance. He added that he is proud for his company's participation in the project. David Lesar expressed satisfaction with meeting with the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

The President of Halliburton noted his company had a few joint projects with SOCAR, who he said will deal with larger projects in the Azerbaijani section of the Caspian Sea in the future. Mr. Lesar added his company is ready to further cooperate with SOCAR.

SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev said transportation of the Kazakh and Turkmen oil via the BTC to Europe is today in the center of global attention.

"Surely, dealing with the BTC expanding projects we will need to benefit from the Halliburton’s technical and engineering experience", said Mr. Abdullayev. He expressed confidence that SOCAR will have new spheres of doing business with Halliburton in the future, AzerTAg reports.
