U.S. Ambassador to Armenia: "Armenian-Turkish relations and Karabakh conflict will be settled soon"

03 October 2008 [11:52] - TODAY.AZ
The Armenian-Turkish relations and Karabakh conflict will be settled in the near future for the glory of the Armenian people and the entire region, the U.S. Ambassador to Armenia said.
"The U.S. welcomes all regional initiatives meant for stability and economic welfare. My duty is to spare no effort for implementation of our plans," Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch said during her first-ever news conference in Yerevan today.

"Ambassador in any state is a person who enjoys the trust of the President and I will work to justify this trust. As to possible change of Ambassador after the November presidential election, it's premature to speak of it yet," she said.

The new Ambassador arrived in Armenia on September 17. The position has been vacant since John Evans was recalled over his public recognition of the Armenian Genocide. The nomination of Marie Yovanovitch was approved by the Senate in August 2008.
