Ali Kerimli: "Opposition parties are searching for other ways of holding mass protests"

03 October 2008 [15:33] - TODAY.AZ
"The parties, represented in the Center of Cooperation of Opposition, are discussing definition of further actions, to be conducted before the presidential elections", said leader of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan Ali Kerimli.
He said, the parties, represented in the center, were planning to hold the actions, sanctioned by the Baku executive power, yet no conditions were provided to them for the purpose.

"Though, the agitation campaign has started officially, opposition still has no opportunity to say its word. In order to hold actions we need the permission of the mayor's office and there is no suitable space for organization of a forum.

This proves again that the  law "On freedom of assembly" is rudely violated in the country. In such situation, the opposition parties, represented in the center, are searching for other ways of holding mass protests", noted Kerimli.

It should be noted that the Center includes the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, the Liberal Party of Azerbaijan, Musavat party, the Civil Development Party and Public Forum "For Azerbaijan". Earlier the parties leaders were planning to hold a meeting at one of the central squares of Baku with a demand to ensure competition in elections and for holding transparent elections and so on.
