Local mass media need no registration to observe presidential elections in Azerbaijan

"Approximately 34 thousand persons wishing to observe the upcoming presidential elections in Azerbaijan have been registered", Chairman of the Central Election Commission Mezahir Panahov announced at the meeting of the organization, APA reports.

According to him, 884 international observers have been registered to follow the elections in the country. 31386 persons to be involved in observation activity on the election day have already been registered in the district electoral commissions. More than a thousand of people have been given the right of observation by CEC.

Touching upon the media’s activity during the Election Day, Chairman of the Central Election Commission Mezahir Panahov noted that local Mass Media did not need registration to observe presidential elections in Azerbaijan. However, international media representatives must be registered.
