The capital of Azerbaijan is developing and growing annually, and to improve this changes Baku needs to enlarge by a single plan. In this way, the city will be used efficiently.

Recently, the State Committee for City Building and Architecture has signed a contract with Baku State Design Institute to establish a zoning plan and the use of the entire territory of Baku.

Azerbaijan has grown by 73,000 people since the beginning of this year. In the first eight months, the country’s population has reached 9.666 million and statistics show that the urban population is growing consistently here.

The issue is of permanent concern for the capital city, that attracts both local and foreign tourists with its opportunities and beautiful architecture as well as with historic sides.

This plan will not only cover the entire territory of Baku, but an area of 213,000 hectares from Alyat to Sumgayit city, including Khirdalan city. There is also a plan of zoning the central part of Baku that is particularly attractive for tourism.

The population of Baku is expected to grow by 745,000 people to 3.35 million by 2030. That will double housing to 64.147 million square meters respectively, and the provision of housing for one person will be 25 square meters of total area compared to the current 17.3 square meters.

Baku is also expected to see 22,000 hectares of its oil-field lands reclaimed by 2030. Most of this territory will be reserved for the woodland park zone.

At least 34 million hectares currently used by economic entities or abandoned areas will be planted, turning into parks and public gardens.

In the process of improvement, the areas of street and road network will increase by hundreds of kilometers.

The construction and demolition works have already started in the districts of Baku, where old buildings will be replaced with new and modern ones.

There is also a plan to move production sides and education complexes from Baku to the regions of the country. This will be a win-win solution to promote the city and the regions.
