The State Agency of Automobile of Azerbaijan continues the reconstruction of the Aghdam-Asgaran-Khojali-Khankendi highway.

Azernews reports that the road starts from the Barda-Aghdam highway and its total length is 33.6 km.

According to the project, the first 11.7 km part of the said road is being reconstructed according to the II technical grade, and the remaining 21.9 km part is being reconstructed according to the I technical grade. The width of the embankment is 15 and 26.5 meters, respectively, and the number of traffic lanes is 2 and 4 lanes. The width of shoulders in each direction is 3.75 meters.

Earthworks are currently being carried out throughout the project. Thus, the construction of the road surface is being carried out by removing the unsuitable soil using special techniques and bringing it to the standard height by replacing it with suitable material, widening the road and profiling it.

In addition, the construction of rectangular and circular water pipes of different diameters as well as passages is being carried out along the road. Some 3,494 meters of the 6,707-meter retaining wall planned in the project have already been built.

In parallel with the mentioned works, the construction of 5 bridges with 1 and 3 spans is also being rapidly continued. Bridges are being built on the 1.6, 4.4, 7.2, 9.6 and 14th km sections of the road.

Overall physical progress throughout the project is 55%.

Aghdam-Asgaran-Khojali-Khankendi highway will facilitate travel in the region and will have a significant impact on the development of agriculture and tourism.

The road will allow drivers and passengers who want to go to the cities of Khankendi, Shusha and Lachin from the direction of Barda to continue their movement quickly and safely using this road without entering the city of Aghdam.
