McDermott Caspian Contractors, Inc. has completed fabrication of the floating flare and gravity base for Single Buoy Mooring Inc. (SBM), a part of SBM Offshore Group of companies.
The floating flare weighing approximately 103MT was built for Block 1 in the Turkmenistan sector of the Caspian Sea, McDermott Office in Baku told. The work performed comprises a part of the contract awarded to SBM by Petronas Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn. Bhd. In late December, 2006, the floating flare was safely loaded out and started its journey from McDermott's marine base at the Heydar Aliyev Baku Deepwater Jacket Factory (BDJF) to the project field. The gravity base was recently loaded out and transported to Turkmenistan. "This is the first project we have performed in relation to Turkmenistan, and we are very proud to report that it has been completed successfully and ahead of schedule," said Dan Houser, Vice President & General Manager, Caspian operations. McDermott’s scope of work includes procurement, fabrication, pressure testing, assembly and load out of the floating flare and gravity base. The project was done in Azerbaijan utilizing the infrastructure, equipment and labor of BDJF. McDermott Caspian Contractors Inc. (McDermott) is the Caspian operating entity, and wholly owned subsidiary, of J. Ray McDermott, S.A. McDermott provides products, services and creative solutions to the offshore oil and gas industry. These services include, but are not limited to, engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction and project management, offshore pipelay and marine construction, APA reports.
