The Delegation of the European Union (EU) and the Embassies of the European Union member states jointly with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan and "Park Cinema" announce the launch of the European Film Festival 2012. The Festival will run from 4 to 10 October in Baku and will present modern European films and their film directors to the Azerbaijani public. The tickets are free of charge.

The programme of the European Film Festival includes the screening of 15 films from 14 European Union countries (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Sweden and the United Kingdom) and Azerbaijan. The genres of the films represent a broad spectrum - musical comedy (Sound of Noise from Sweden), emotional drama (Kiss Me Again from Italy) and psychological thriller (We need to talk about Kevin from the UK) to detective action story (The Memory of a Killer from Belgium) just to name some of them.   

As guests of honor the Festival is proud to present the Lithuanian director Algimantas Puipa, Polish director Rafael Lewandowski, German director Eva Blondiau among others. After the movies the audience will be given the opportunity to participate in interactive discussions with the guests of honor.  

To allow for a broad participation of the Azerbaijani public each movie will be shown in 2 sessions and entrance to all the films will be free. Tickets will be available at "Park Cinema", "Park Boulevard", Neftchilar Avenue from 24 September.

The European Film Festivals are annually organized by the EU Delegation in Azerbaijan and serve to further building and strengthening the cultural links between the European Union countries and Azerbaijan thus contributing to better mutual understanding.
