A bike event dedicated to the World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day and the New Year was held in Baku on December 29.
Organized by the Azerbaijan Cycling Federation, the bike ride started
from the Sport Palace and finished at the Clock Tower, and cyclists of
all ages took part in it.
Cyclists without bicycles were also able to obtain one from the
federation, which also made an entertainment show and presented gifts to
children.
Santa Clause and the Snow Maiden also participated in the ride.
Azerbaijan's first professional cycling team Synergy Baku joined the
event wearing T-shirts that showed the logo of the first European Games,
held in Baku in summer 2015.
Team member Aqshin Ismayilov called on Azerbaijani cyclists to participate in sports more actively.
About 200 cyclists in the Santa Clause and the Snow Maiden outfits
participated in the event, which has already become a tradition since
2012. The federation is carrying out such events to develop interest in
this sport.
Annual cycling competitions are also held in Azerbaijan, which shows a rising interest in sports.
