72 of 119 applicants won the right to participate in the national selection round of Eurovision 2012 song contest. They successfully passed preliminary hearings in the Public Television, which cast lots for scheduling the selection concerts. 72 applicants were divided to 8 groups and Public Television will broadcast live programs from the national selection concerts during the eight weeks.
The nominees will perform their vocal and artistic opportunities. The winner of the week will be determined by voting of jury and SMS-voting by the viewers. The winners of the weekly contests will pass to semifinals and only three singers will have the right to participate in finals.
Three foreigners – US citizens will also participate in the Eurovision national selection in Azerbaijan. Eurovision 2012 Song Contest will take place on May 22, 24 and 26 in Baku.
