The terrifying moment a grizzly bear charges towards a group of tourists in Alaska is caught on film. The group of tourists were visiting Katmai National Park in Alaska and were taking part in 'a safe viewing' of the grizzly bears in their natural habitat.
One of the bears starts to charge directly at the tourists up a stream. Remarkably the group manages to sit in measured silence as the animal approaches amid fears that any commotion could provoke a potentially deadly attack.
After coming within a few feet of the group, the bear eventually loses interest and returns to the stream. 'We had a safety class beforehand about what to do if we encountered a bear," cameraman Larry Griffith said.
All the bears were catching fish when this particular bear circled our group several times, wanting us to leave his fishing spot. "This was not supposed to happen. Our guide said he saw this as a bluff charge, trying to scare us, which he did! We were all in shock but were happy that no-one in our group jumped up, ran away or screamed for their lives."
