Turkey's fourth face transplant surgery was completed successfully at Akdeniz University Medical Faculty on Tuesday. Prof. Omer Ozkan, who performed the surgery, said, "we have completed the operation successfully."
Ozkan told AA that the face of 19-year-old Tevfik Yilmaz was transplanted to 34-year-old Turan Colak. The surgery began at 6:45 a.m., and lasted for nearly nine hours, said Ozkan.
Turkey's first face transplant surgery was made in January again by Prof. Ozkan who also performed Turkey's first double arm transplant in September 2010 and the world's first ever womb transplant from a cadaveric donor in August 2011.
