February 16h, 1978 - first ever BBS (Bulletin Board System) was created in Chicago, USA.

June 16th, 1977 - Oracle corporation was created (as of now, Oracle provides the world’s most complete, open, and integrated business software and hardware systems, with more than 370,000 customers—including 100 of the Fortune 100—representing a variety of sizes and industries in more than 145 countries around the globe).

August 16th, 1993 - First version of Debian (first Linux distributive) was released by Ian Murdock. Murdock initially called the system "the Debian Linux Release". Prior to Debian's release, the Softlanding Linux System (SLS) had been the first GNU/Linux distribution compiled from various software packages, and was a popular basis for other distributions in 1993-1994.

June 16th, 1963 - Valentina Tereshkova became the first ever woman to fly in space. Out of more than four hundred applicants and then out of five finalists, she was selected to pilot Vostok 6 on 16 June 1963 and become the first woman to fly in space. This also made her the first civilian in space (she was only honorarily inducted into the USSR's Air Force as a condition on joining the Cosmonaut Corps).
