Unsettlement of conflicts in the GUUAM member-states damage the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of these states, complicate the implementation of large-scale democratic reforms and economic development of the region, negatively affects on the European integration processes and throws down a challenge to the international community, according to a declaration on "For Democracy, stability and development" recently signed in a summit of the GUUAM heads of state in Kishinev, Moldova.
The sides undersigning the document underlined the importance of intensifying the joint efforts by GUUAM countries in the resolution of the Pre-Dnester problems and conflicts in Azerbaijan and Georgia on the base of international rule of law through re-integration of uncontrolled territories and states, that they enter, and provision joint peaceable life for different ethnic groups within the internationally recognized borders. "Presidents of GUUAM countries welcome a peace plan for South-Osetia Autonomy, submitted by Georgian President Michael Saakashvili, as well as statements by the Ukrainian and Romanian Presidents on the resolution of Pre-Dnester problem," the document says. GUUAM member-countries called on the OSCE countries to put maximum efforts to enable Russia to fulfill its obligation on withdrawal of Russian armies and ammunitions from Moldova and Georgia.
