A new Ambassador of the Russian Federation (RF) to Azerbaijan will be appointed not earlier the current November.

Charge d’Affaires of RF in Azerbaijan Petr Burdykin gave Trend this information.

The reasons are the summer holidays at the Russia’s legislative body, the State Duma.

«Before appointing an ambassador to any country, the issue is submitted first to the State Duma for consideration. After receiving the positive response of he deputies, the list of the future ambassadors is discussed at the next stage with involvement of the country’s President and for receiving the agreement the papers of the diplomat as a nominee for the post are sent to the destination country. The entire process takes about 2 months. It is regretful, the State Duma has not set to discussing the candidate for the post of the Ambassador to Azerbaijan at the spring session. The issue is expected to be put forward for discussions at the Parliament’s autumn session in October, Petr Burdikin said.

Speaking about the press reports on appointing Victor Chernomyrdin, the current Ambassador of RF to the Ukraine, the Ambassador to Azerbaijan, the diplomat called them rumors.

«The press tries to interpret differently the Chernomyrdin’s arrival to Baku. There is nothing unusual in it. He was in Azerbaijan last year too. It was simply a visit”, Burdykin noted.

The former Russia Ambassador to Azerbaijan Nicolay Ryabov has been heading the Russia diplomatic mission in Moldova for about a year.
