Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received newly assigned Ambassador of France to Azerbaijan, Bernard Amodrique du Shafo's credentials.

As APA reports, the President expressed his hope that relations between the two countries will further strengthen.

"My visits to France show once more that political, economic as well as cultural cooperation is strengthening. At the same time, our expanding relations with the European Union have good influence on our bilateral relations".

Saying that France as an OSCE Minsk group co-chairman has also made a huge contribution to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict resolution, Mr. Aliyev expressed his hope that mediators' efforts will yield any result.

The Ambassador Bernard Amodrique du Shafo in his turn reminded of the friendship relations between the two countries, underscored that French president Jacque Chirac has friendly relations to Azerbaijani President as well.

"The real friendship relations give an impetus to all sphere of cooperation. President Jacque Chirac and French government are sensitive about Armenian-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict and comprehend their political commitments".
