Today final court session is held in Budapest on the case of senior lieutenant of Azerbaijan's Army Ramil Safarov, who is indicted for murder of Armenian officer Gurgen Margarian in Hungary.
Safarov has already addressed the trial with his final statement. Lawyer Adil Ismayilov, who officially represents Safarov's family in the trial, told that the court session started with Safarov's testimony at 8.30 by local time (11.30 Baku time). Safarov explained how he committed the crime and expressed his opinion on it. Azerbaijani senior lieutenant said that Jabrail region, where he was brought up, has been occupied by Armenia, and Armenians brutally murdered Azerbaijanis, as well as his relatives and displaced them from their native homes. Safarov also said that Armenian officer Gurgen Margarian's actions caused him to commit the crime. Margarian offended the flag of Azerbaijan and often insulted Azerbaijani Armed Forces. He also said he was not conscious when he killed the Armenian officer. Safarov also touched on some shortfalls during the investigation into the case, and underlined he expects the judges to make fair verdict. After his testimony a break was announced in the courtroom until 13.30 by local time (16.30 Baku time). The judge Andrash Vashkuti will pronounce a sentence on Safarov after the break. The lawyer also said that representatives of Azerbaijani Embassy in Hungary, journalists sent to Budapest and Azerbaijani students also attended the final court session, APA reports.
