The CIS observation mission released on Sunday its final assessment of Azerbaijan's Saturday repeat parliamentary elections in ten constituencies.
29 observers from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the Russian State Duma (parliament) were provided with favorable conditions to monitor the polling, the head of the mission Vladimir Gorkun said. "In general, the poll met democratic and international standards. No serious irregularities were observed." At the same time, Gorkun pointed to some minor irregularities. In a number of polling stations, two voters entered the polling booth at the same time. Moreover, employees of the International Republican Institute who conducted exit-polls during the by-elections disturbed the voting process in two polling stations, he said. According to AssA-Irada, the head of the mission emphasized that these and other insignificant violations will not influence the overall outcome of the elections. /AzerNEWS.net/
