Despite brutal suppression of people in Azeri provinces and the dispatch of anti-riot commando units, demonstrations and clashes in various cities in that region continue.
On Tuesday, residents of Garmi and Par-Abad-Moghan in northern Ardabil clashed with the suppressive forces and attacked many government installations. The security forces used tear gas to confront the enraged protesters. Meanwhile, Akbar Ghaffari, deputy governor of East Azerbaijan for political and security affairs, said, "In the course of Sunday's unrest in Tabriz, 150 people were arrested by State Security Forces (SSF), the paramilitary Bassij, and intelligence agents. The interrogation of those arrested is in process." He admitted to people's indignation against the regime and said, "When the rioters were chased, they broke the windows of the state-owned banks by throwing stones." The Iranian Resistance calls on the international human rights organizations and relevant UN agencies to condemn the heinous crimes against Azeris in Iran and requests urgent action to save the lives of those arrested in the course of the demonstrations. /www.ncr-iran.org/
