"Azerbaijan and Lithuania must come closer in economic relationships like in political cooperation and we will make all attempts to do it," told Heydar Babayev, Economic Development Minister of Azerbaijan, in his interview to journalists in Azerbaijan-Lithuania business forum today in Baku.
According to APA, Mr. Babayev was sorry to say that trade rate between the countries is only 7 million dollars. Such forums like this helps current economic relations between states grow up and get mobilized. The Minister has stated that there are 15 companies from Lithuania and a little more from Azerbaijan. Mr. Babayev noted big Lithuanian experience in agrarian industry and agricultural products processing. He has said that opening Azerbaijani House in Lithuania is considered now that may be thought a beginning stage of cooperation. "Both Presidents agreed upon this case." The Minister touched also energy cooperation discussions between two countries. "It is possible for Azerbaijan to take part in some infrastructure projects in Lithuania. Besides, oil products transportation is also likely to happen." Babayev told about talks on tourism cooperation. "We are ready to encourage them in that question." The Minister said that Lithuanian side intends to import fish and other similar products made in Azerbaijan. "We will consider quality, certification and other pertinent questions right today."
