The Council of Europe Parlaimentary Assembly (PACE) rapporteur for missing persons Leo Platvoet held a press conference on the talks he had in Baku.

As APA reports, the co-rapporteur stressed the importance of making clear of the fate of persons missing due to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and resolving this issue without further delay.

"The aim of my visit to the region was not to find individual missing persons but to get to know ways of cooperation between the state organizations dealing with this issue. The analogical mechanism has succeeded in Yugoslavia," Mr.Platvoet said.

Platvoet's report on "Missing persons in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia" will be presented to PACE in autumn and it will go into January session.

"I'll include my recommendations to the state commissions dealing with the issue of missing persons. The Azerbaijani and Armenian relevant commissions have agreed to restore the cooperation in this field. The sides will promote establishment of a structure composed of representatives of Azerbaijani and Armenian communities who have good knowledge of Nagorno Karabakh. Though I have not touched on this issue during my visit, I think this structure can be established," the rapporteur said.
