Today Turkish Education Minister Hussain Chelik visited Azerbaijan. The Minister first visited Martyrs' Alley and Heydar Aliyev's grave in Honor Alley then he met with the Azerbaijani Education Minister Misir Mardanov.
Chelik said that Azerbaijan has changed a lot since his first visit to our country four years ago as Culture Minister. He stated that at the moment 75 000 Turkish students study in different countries of the world, 4 000 of them study in Azerbaijan, because there is no language problem between the two countries. Chelik noted that 1500 Azerbaijani students study in Turkey. "All students in Turkey have place to live. But we have not right to demand this from you, as Azerbaijan has refugees," the Minister said. Azerbaijani Education Minister Misir Mardanov said that according to the agreement between the Education Ministry and Turkish Embassy in Azerbaijan the Turkish language is taught in some of the best schools of Azerbaijan. Besides the Minister noted that an Ankara school has been opened in Baku recently. "I would like the Minister to stay in Azerbaijan for 10 days and get acquainted not only with the situation in Baku but also in the villages," Mardanov said. Within the Turkish Minister's visit the discussions will be made on the protocol to be signed between the two countries. The protocol concerning higher education is likely to be signed during next visits. This protocol will be the continuation of the protocols signed up to date, APA reports.
