On November 15, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the delegation of the Federative Republic of Germany led by Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety Mrs. Astrid Klug.
The President expressed hope this visit would give a new impetus to the steadily developing relations between the two countries. He stressed the Azerbaijan-Germany relations are experiencing intensive development in political, economic and other fields. Recalling his official visit to Germany two years ago, President Aliyev said a great deal of work has been done since then towards enhancing bilateral relations, particularly, economic cooperation. The Head of State described the two countries' relations as successfully developing not only in bilateral format but also as part of the Azerbaijan-European Union cooperation. President Ilham Aliyev underlined that Azerbaijan has big plans and programs in regard to environment protection. "Azerbaijan's leadership attaches great importance to environmental problems," he said adding that the German delegation's visit will be fruitful in terms of both development of the two countries’ bilateral relations and cooperation in environment protection. Mrs. Astrid Klug said over two days of staying in Azerbaijan, they found the country very interesting. She pointed out that not only friendly ties but also cooperation between Azerbaijan and Germany in various fields, including environmental protection, are what bring them closer together. Mrs. Klug said the current visit is an evidence of this cooperation as the delegation includes members of the Bundestag, and representatives of non-governmental organizations engaged in environmental issues.
