"At present I live in Ankara, Turkey and work for a company. I made my mind to live abroad for a certain period of time. I want to return to Azerbaijan after the human rights condition and political situation is normal," said Former Commander of the Special Police Force and ex-prisoner Fahmin Hajiyev.
He told APA that the judgement made by the European Court of Human Rights is both legally and politically important. He thinks that those whose rights were violated can file a request with the European Court of Human Rights and punish the Government of Azerbaijan. "I am satisfied with the judgement. The Government should heed the results and form independent court system. I have not yet received the judgement in written form," he said. He said he is not represented by any person on this case. "Personally, I lodged the appeal with the Court when I was in Gobustan prison. I can't have gotten in touch with my former lawyer Ganira Isgandarova for six months. Only I have the right to make any comment on the judgement but Ganira Isgandarova gave a press conference on my behalf. My contract with Ganira expired two years ago. The judgement was sent to her because her name in the previous documents as she defended me before. I will sue her for not returning the documents of mine. I declare once more that nobody can take advantage of my success," he said. Ganira Isgandarova told APA that she didn't hold the press conference on the behalf of Hajiyev. "I gave the press conference on my behalf. It is the case I won. My aim was to publicize my success. I received the judgement because I had taken part in the process," the lawyer said.
