"Council of Europe is interested in the democracy in all countries, as well as in Central Asia. The organization with 46 members, does not restrict its democratic values to these countries," Samad Seyidov, the head of Azerbaijani delegation in PACE, told.

Commenting on the work of PACE Political Affairs Committee Samad Seyidov said that the process of conformation of Central Asia to the European values and integration of regional countries to the CE goes in two directions.

"The first direction is the establishment of direct relations between Central Asia and the CE, the second direction is CE‘s approach Central Asian republics through Azerbaijan. Kazakhstan’s joining Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline is one of the stimulating factors in the development of the works in this direction. Besides, Azerbaijan actually plays mediating role between Central Asia and Europe," he said.

Samad Seyidov said that judgement was adopted in the CE to grant Kazakhstan "special guest" status, APA reports.

"As to Central Asian countries the democracy here is one of the priorities," he said.
