Scandal happened at the meeting of Musavat Party Council last Saturday.
Though the issues on the agenda were discussed calmly, the speech of Alovsat Talishkhanli member of the Central Control Inspection Commission stirred up the discussions, APA reports. He criticized "Yeni Musavat" newspaper and accused the editor-in-chief on the newspaper Rauf Arifoglu of discrimination among the Musavat members. "Three days ago Lenkeran Musavat members asked me if this paper serves the Interior Ministry," he said. Alovsat Talishkhanli demanded the removal of the paper from the party office. Member of Divan Vurgun Eyyub voiced his critical views on the party and stressed the importance of broad discussions in the meeting of Divan Musavat leader Isa Gambar supported Rauf Arifoglu. "If somebody undergoes groundless attack, I will support him. When Yeni Musavat newspaper attacked Vurgun Eyyub, I supported him. And I will support the paper, if it undergoes an irrelevant attack," he said. Isa Gambar accused the party members of giving pretexts to the government and press from the point of view of weakening the party. Yeni Musavat editor-in-chief did not take a stance on the accusations. The editor of the newspaper Azer Aykhan told the APA that the newspaper staff appealed to the party leader, Council and the Central Control Inspection Commission to expel Alovsat Talishkhanli from the party. "If he is not expelled from the party we will appeal to court for protection of our honor and dignity," he said. "They several times tried to remove the newspaper from the party office. It is not problem for us to leave the party office. But the party it can harm the party," Azer Aykhan said. "I do not expect to be expelled from the party, but if it happens I will be a virtual member of Musavat," Alovsat Talishkhanli said.
