"I wanted to get acquainted with living conditions of refugees and internally displaced persons in Azerbaijan. Unfortunately, I did not have opportunity for this. I hope I will chance to visit the displaced-persons camps during my next visit to the country," said European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus Peter Semneby.

Semneby told the APA he intends to meet with Azerbaijani officials and representatives of NGOs to discuss the living conditions of IDPs thoroughly. Answering the question whether EU, which has sent a mission to the conflict zones in Georgia, will send a mission to Nagorno Karabakh too, the EU Special Representative said that it is premature to speak about it.

"We do not know the result of the mission to Georgia yet. So, we can begin to work in Nagorno Karabakh only after this," he said.

Semneby said that the date of his visit to Azerbaijan has not been set yet. His visit was previously scheduled to 16-17 March.

Chief of Azerbaijani community of Nagorno Karabakh Nizami Bahmanov said that he plans to meet with Peter Semneby within his visit to Azerbaijan.

"We will focus on the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. We will also discuss participation of communities in the negotiations," Bahmanov said.
