An opening ceremony of the representation of the European Commission in Azerbaijan will be held in Baku on February 4.

The due information has been provided by sources from the Europe House, coordinating Azerbaijan's actions with the European Union.

A delegation of the EU troika will arrive for participation in the ceremony to Baku. The delegation is planned to include the commissary of the European commission for external ties Benita Ferrero Valdner.

The ceremony will be attended by the EU special representative for South Caucasus Peter Semneby.

The opening ceremony will be attended by officials of the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan, ambassadors of the EU member-states to Azerbaijan and mass media representatives. The office of the European commission will locate in Icheri Sheher (Old City), in theĀ  office building of Europe house.

Following the official part of the ceremony, the European delegation will visit the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan and meet with its leadership. The meeting participants will discuss EU-Azerbaijan bilateral cooperation, as well as Azerbaijan's plan of actions in the framework of the European Neighborhood Policy for 2008.

A briefing for reporters will be held upon completion.
