Milli Medjlis has adopted a law "On rules of using banners of other countries and international organizations on the territory of Azerbaijan" today.

Samed Seidov, head of the Commission for International Affairs and Interparliamentary Relations, noted addressing the session that Azerbaijan currently accounts for a great number of embassies of other countries, representatives of international organizations, as well as offices of foreign companies, where due banners are installed.

At the same time, the chairman of the parliamentary commission pointed at the fact that some use banners of other countries for selfish ends.

The law consisting of 6 articles, fixes the rules of installation of banners of other countries on the territory of Azerbaijan, as well as restrictions in connection with the banners installation.

By the said law, the banners of other countries can be set:
-in the buildings of diplomatic missions in Azerbaijan, as well as residences of the heads of diplomatic missions in the country;
-in places, set under the protocol rules during the visit of senior delegations of foreign countries to Azerbaijan;
-on ships, sailing in the domestic waters of Azerbaijan, or those standing in the ports of Azerbaijan;
-on arrangements of international level, held in Azerbaijan;
-in work offices of diplomatic missions;
-at transport means of the leaders of other countries, heads of foreign delegations, as well as leaders of diplomatic missions in Azerbaijan.

The law prohibits installation of flags of other countries and international organizations in other places, not envisioned by the said law.

The offenders of the law will be punished in line with the legislation of the Azerbaijan Republic.
