Westerwelle arrived Wednesday in the Turkish capital on a three-day official visit.

Germany's Vice Chancellor and Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle arrived Wednesday in the Turkish capital, Ankara, on a three-day official visit.

Westerwelle will hold a series of talks in the Turkish capital and Istanbul as part of his visit.

Westerwelle will be received by Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and he will meet with his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu, State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan and Turkey's Chief European Union negotiator Egemen Bagis.

The German minister will also deliver a speech at a conference of Turkish ambassadors.

Westerwelle's talks with Turkish officials are expected to address the Middle East problem, bilateral relations as well as Turkey's European Union negotiations.
