President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called for promoted roles of academies in arts, culture and sciences.
The president made the remarks in the 9th special ceremony held jointly by the Iranian academies here Sunday night.
The four academies in Iran active in the areas of the Persian language, literature and culture, sciences, medical sciences and arts enjoy very high status in the country.
President Ahmadinejad described scientists and artists as among the most distinguished of the nation and said their hard and long efforts in different arenas not only set an example for the younger generations but are in fact the essence of the achievements of the nation through ages.
Pointing to the history of sciences and knowledge in Iran, Ahmadinejad noted that Iranians have always made the best of every possible opportunity to make advancements in different areas of sciences.
He further stressed that at the present time, too, Iranian scientists were moving towards the peaks of sciences in a rapid pace and said the scientific activities and big works underway in the country in the present juncture were surely unprecedented in the Iranian history.
At the closing part of the ceremony, President Ahmadinejad extended government’s first-degree symbol of honor to one top member of each of Iran’s four academies.
