In accordance with the action plan designed to support integration of Azerbaijanis residing in Georgia into the country's society, organizational and technical issues related to opening of the Georgian language courses in 34 Azerbaijani schools have been solved.
Various kinds of courses were established in 84 of 124 Azerbaijani schools operating in Georgia, the governmental report on results of the year presented to Azerbaijani Parliament said.
"In addition, support was provided for publication of Region Press and Ziya newspapers and Meydan magazine as an mouthpiece of the Azerbaijani Intellectuals of Georgia Association. Moreover, the folk dance band comprised of 34 people was provided with the national costumes, as well as the organization of the national movement Geyrat was supported with scientific-practical conference on "The realities of the 21st century and the role of media and NGOs in shaping the development of the Azerbaijani diaspora," the report stated.
According to unofficial data, about 500,000 Azerbaijanis reside in Georgia.
